It’s a really great invitation into her novels. This novella got me back into Ally Carter’s books. I wasn’t as much of a fan of the Gallagher Girls series, even though I did read all of them so far and are planning to read the last one when it comes out this August. They kind of leave with that feeling of, Hey, I kind of want to read the next book… However, I did love The Heist Society and the way Ally Carter wrote those books. I was really happy in this story when I realized it was about Macey, but I also kind of wished that Cammie or Bex could have come in somewhere around there. It was still an awesome novella though, and I was really happy to see Kat and Hale.
The twists in this story were small, but pleasant, and I enjoyed reading about these characters. I’m a real sucker for when author’s old characters come back and appear in other stories. I just think it’s really cool. And for the longest time I’ve thought, what if Kat and Cammie met? Actually Bex is my favorite character, but that’s beside the point.
This book had a great, short, sweet storyline to it and I certainly hope that Ally Carter writes another novella with these characters meeting up. I would definitely read it! As I mentioned before, this is actually a really good way to get into Ally Carter’s books. At the end of the novella, there’s the first few chapters of The Heist Society, and I thought that was pretty great advertising for her books. Present a new story, slip in an old one, and if people like the new story, they’ll check out the old books. A simple idea, and not the newest one, but still great advertising. 4 stars on this novella.
