When it comes to relationships, Remy doesn’t mess around. After all, she’s learned all there is to know from her mother, who’s currently working on husband number five. But there’s something about Dexter that seems to defy all of Remy’s rules. He certainly doesn’t seem like Mr. Right. For some reason, however, Remy just can’t seem to shake him. Could it be that Remy’s starting to understand what those love songs are all about?
DNF at 230.
So this is my fourth book into my marathon of re-reading all the Dessen Books in my quest to find more enjoyment in them. And it’s my least favorite one so far. It was a DNF, after all.
I try to finish books. I feel like a lot of the time, the ending is the best part. The ending is supposed to be powerful and tight. There’s a reason why they call it the big finale.
But Remy, man. Okay. I knew that Dexter and Remy would have to fight sometime. I knew it. And I felt bad about that, because Dexter is number 2 on my list of most liked heroes of the Dessen Books. Truthfully, Dexter deserves someone like Mclean or Macy or Emaline. Someone better than Remy. But no. I felt like Remy needed Dexter. She would never grow past her current state without Dexter.
And besides, Macy, Mclean and Emaline all have their own awesome guys.
I knew Dexter would help Remy. I knew that in the end, it would all be okay. But Remy, that girl is so, so….. something. I have never met a character in YA quite as dramatic and pushy as her, and I’ve read about characters would have gone through A LOT worse than her.
I wished it didn’t have to be this way. I really wanted to like THIS LULLABY, I hoped that it would be as good as What Happened To Goodbye and The Truth About Forever. Expect more from the next read…. 2 stars. Not my thing.
To see all of my Dessen reviews so far, search (RealityLapse): those Dessen books though.
