SNOW LIKE ASHES is about Meira, a fierce chakram-wielding warrior from the Kingdom of Winter, must struggle to free her people from the tyranny of an opposing kingdom while also protecting her own destiny. I got the chance to talk with Sara Raasch, the amazingly awesome author of this really promising story and we did a little Would You Rather session. So, would she rather burn books or not read them? Live without Tumblr or Avatar, the Last Airbender? Find out below!
Would You Rather…?
1) First off, would you rather burn books or not read them?
I would rather not read them. In that case, books would still exist, and other people could read them — if I burned them, then no one would get to enjoy books. And I just couldn’t live with that!2) Would you rather live without writing or reading?MEAN. Hm. I’m going to have to say…reading. On my scale of pleasures, writing is #1, and reading is #2, but only by a very small percentage!3) Would you rather live without AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER or Tumblr?OH MY GAWD ZUTARA. I think this question hurts more than #2…I would rather live without Avatar. Because on Tumblr, people post enough stuff about Avatar that I could piece together episodes from memory. Besides, being part of a fandom is just as much fun (if not more, sometimes) than watching the actual show itself!4) What would you rather–Snow or Ashes? (Because that makes so much sense)Snow! Unless the ashes were the ashes of my enemies. *muahahahaha*5) Would you rather meet Sarah Bolger or Sterling Knight?
OH GOSH PRESSURE. I’d have to say Sarah Bolger — I ADORE her as an actress, and would totally break down in a fangirl-like pile of squeals and fawning if I met her. I recently rewatched The Tudors, and her role as Mary Tudor was BRILLIANT.6) If you were in Meira’s place, would you rather have Mather or Sir?HA! Oh my gosh, I have no idea how this rumor started, but you are sadly not the first person to think that Sir is part of a love triangle with Meira. Sir is in his fifties, and serves as Meira’s father-figure (her real parents died during Winter’s takeover). I nearly fell off my chair the first time someone asked if Meira and Sir end up together — both because it is so completely not at all what happens and because EWWW.So in that case, I’d pick Mather. He’s steady and certain, quiet and patient, yet can be fiercely protective of his kingdom and people when he needs to be. Who doesn’t love a man with passion?
Why OCTOBER? Why must you be so far away?
But seriously. Two more days. Just two more days and I can finally look at the cover.
