In the years that I’ve been blogging about YA lit, I’ve never seen the diversity movement stronger than it is now. Through organizations like We Need Diverse Books, we’ve begun to make a dent in YA lit. In the future, I hope that every teen will be able to see themselves in and on books.

However, there’s still a lot of ground we have to cover. It’s important to support authors who do their research and who focus on portraying peoples and cultures instead of just the diversity label. That’s why I wanted to make my annual blog event a celebration of ten of the diverse books I’m most looking forward to and that I believe represent this movement well. The event will be composed mainly of interviews and will have a running giveaway every day. Five of the authors involved are:
