The Mondays Musts is a feature by Jessica @ Lovin’ los Libros! Every Monday, you post about your must read, must listen and must see.
I won’t lie–looking back on it, I loved this one primarily because of the character-back-in-time trope, so I can say that it was very well-written in my memory, but my memory is biased. It’s a trope I love because it’s fascinating to me to see an author envision what people of the past (or future) would think of another time, and to see that world through those characters’ eyes.
And in Revolution, what Donnelly made clear to me was just how relevant the past is to this present and to our future. This story made me start to fall in love with history, something that would come into full swing during my high school years, and it was one of the books that kickstarted my love of reading about the French Revolution. It’s an altogether solid read, and I would enjoy taking another look at it in the future. Read my full review.
A big part of why I don’t like SM Entertainment is because of King of Masked Singer. With this show, I got to see incredible performances from singers I’d previously disregarded like f(x)’s Luna and EXO’s Chen. When I found out just how talented these artists were, I became even more upset with SM because I felt like they were holding back their artists so much. With the notoriety and talent they have on all sides, I feel that they’re in a position to create art, like this cover, but instead they do bubblegum pop that’s super popular and just as meaningless. All of that to say, I wish there was more for Chen, and I hope to see EXO shine even more in the future.
I wasn’t really a fan of the first season of Sister’s Slam Dunk, but I checked out the second season because I wanted to see Minzy. So far, this season has been a ton of fun, and it’s been amazing to see people who aren’t girl group members in any sense (most of them at least) record and work with pros in the business. I’m looking forward to their song and more seasons of the show. Check out all the released videos on YouTube!
