The Mondays Musts is a feature by Jessica @ Lovin’ los Libros! Every Monday, you post about your must read, must listen, and must see.
The Recruit and the CHERUB series is one of my favorite spy series in all of YA and MG lit. It can be fun, but it can also be mature. It’s realistic enough without losing some of its fantastical flavor. I’m usually not a fan of drama, but The Recruit produces a good mix between school life and field work over the course of the series. I felt like I really got to know and care about the characters. The twists weren’t especially shocking, so I wouldn’t recommend it for people who need action on every page, but it is an incredibly smart, funny, and well-written book for those looking for an off-the-beaten-path spy read.
Lena Park’s Courting has been one of my favorite songs of 2017 since the first time I heard it. It’s not super meaningful lyrics-wise, but I love the way she uses her voice and the overall feel of the song.
I’ve been an amateur videographer for about about a year now, and this video amazed me with its beauty and execution. It helped that I’m familiar with the piano piece playing in the background about halfway through the video; it’s a cover of Pixies’ Where is My Mind from the Fight Club soundtrack. As these people tried to form their inexplicable passion for hunting the fish into words, I really came to care about them, and I feel that’s the greatest power of any form of art.
